New Indian Tourist Visa Restriction


The Indian Government has announced new travel requirements for foreign nationals holding a 'Tourist Visa' to enter India. These requirements take immediate effect and are summarised as follows:

1. Applicable for tourist visa holders arriving at airports of CHENNAI, DELHI, KOLKATA, MUMBAI and BANGALORE
2. In regards with the multiple entry Tourist Visa which a passenger would not be permitted to enter back into India for a period of 2 Months from the date of Departure
3. An ink stamp to same effect is put on the passport and passengers are informed of the restriction by the immigration officer at time of departure form India. Please kindly alert when accepting passengers to India and remind them if required

The ink stamp stated "There should be a gap of at least 2 months between two visit's to the country on a tourist visa.In case of requirement to visit the country within 2 months, permission should be sought for from the head of the Mission concerned indicating the specific reasons for another visit within a short period. In all such cases registration would be required within 14 days of arrival"

4. If any foreign national is required to visit the country again within a period of 2 months of his last departure, such foreign national should be obtain special permission from the Mission/Post concerned. The Mission/Post may consider such requests on merits of each case
